Plastic Fantastic "learn to race" Course

If you no longer think of yourself as a beginner, you can sail about unaided, you can rig a boat and get off the beach, sail the way you want to go, and feel quite comfortable .. BUT you want to improve your sailing skills, maybe test your skills against others, maybe join in with the racing ... but you dont know where to start !! Well Plastic Fantasic is the course that gives you the skills to make that move .. where you learn the rules of racing, the starting sequence, how to make you boat go faster, and how to slow it down, race tactics, mark roundings, where to sit, what to shout.. and the list goes on. At the end of this course you will be fully equipped to not just take part in any of the club's race series, but to do so safely and with a good chance of doing rather well.

However, this course is intensive, it covers a large amount of ground very quickly and so it requires your commitment. It is held over 8 consecutive Tuesday evenings 18:00-20:30 at the beginning of the season (April-June) - 4 classroom sessions and 4 Practice sessions. and you really need to be able to attend at least 6 of those sessions before applying for it. You do not need to have your own boat as Plastic Fantastic gets its name due to the fact we all go afloat in the club 'plastic' boats..

We can accomodate 20 sailers on this course and we have 10 Pico's , 6 Fusions and 2 Feva's available .. which leaves 2 spaces for sailors who would like to use their own boats (contact me direct if you want to use your own boat). If you have attended this course before then there is no objection to you coming back and doing it again, but priority will be given to first timers .. after all the aim is to get as many people racing as we can.
