Short Course Racing / Fast and Slow Fleets

This is our premier series for Improvers who want to race. The courses are short and races are normally over several laps. We usually manage to run 3 short races on a raceday, each one lasting around about 20-30 minutes.

There are two fleets racing at the same time, with the 'Slow Fleet' primarily for beginners and improvers and the 'Fast Fleet' for more experienced sailors perhaps with quicker boats. The Race Officer will help out if you are not sure which to sign up to. The two fleets will sail similar courses but with different start lines or staggered times to avoid too much congestion.

There is full safety cover and every Raceday starts with a full briefing so even if you have never raced before, you will know just what you have let yourself in for before you go afloat. Racing is held in the sheltered waters of Thorney Channel over high tide and the racing rules are applied lightly... no one gets disqualified in SCR/PF racing.

So if you want to have a go at competitive racing against people of similar ability, in similar boats and improve your sailing as you do it.. then this is the series for you.
