Powerboat & Safety Boat Refresher Training
PB2 dust-buster! Would you like to do some helming duties but feeling like it's been too long since you got in front of an engine? Just need a little freshen up? Bit uncertain on how to get the boats in and out of the water? Just want it all to feel familiar again before the duty day? Come along to our Refresher Training. It's there to provide whatever you need to feel current and confident - no tests, no judgement, just some time on the water with a friendly instructor to bring it all back!
This is for club members who already have their powerboat level 2 certificate but who are feeling a bit rusty and just want time on the helm.
Have a think about what you want to practice before the session. We can refresh the basic powerboat 2 skills (slow speed boat handling, holding off a buoy, picking up up a buoy), the more demanding level 2 skills (coming alongside, man overboard); or cover some of the safety boat skills (towing, capsize recovery, inversion recovery, lee shore recovery, and even recovering a casualty from the water).
The plan is to meet at 1330; check, prepare and launch the powerboats and dinghies we'll be using; spend 3 hours on the water; then recover at HW for a nice easy recovery.
Plan to get wet, so please wear wetsuits and whatever other clothing is appropriate for the weather on the day.
