BSUPA Level 1 Instructor Course
This is a 1-day BSUPA Level 1 Instructor course (details here), for competent SUP paddlers who already hold a current RYA or Paddle UK instructor qualification.
Once qualified this will allow you to run introductory sessions for groups of up to 6 beginners, in windspeeds of less than 10 kts, within 50 m of the shore, in tidal streams of less than 2 kts. This basically means in conditions similar to On The Water.
The SUP skills you need to be competent at before undertaking this course are: short paddle strokes, step back and reverse paddle turns, board 360s, body 360s, foot and paddle steering, basics push turns, and paddle boarding in reverse.
You must have an in-date First Aid qualification. The club run RYA First Aid courses a few times a year at no cost to members so this shouldn't be a problem.
This course is being run at no costs to participants. The intent is to develop some SUP Instructors within TISC who can run sessions to offer something other than sailing to our members. Those who undertake the course will be expected to become involved in supporting the growth of SUP within the club.
The course will run 0900 - 1700.
