Hare & Hounds Series 2022

Published 12:27 on 23 Oct 2022
Every year the Hare and Hounds race series is an opportunity for three of the local clubs, Emsworth Slipper Sailing Club, Emsworth Sailing Club and Thorney Island Sailing Club to race against each other in the Emsworth Channel. We get the chance to race in a mixed fleet around a different set of marks on Saturdays and Sundays every other week. We then flip back to Thorney and they're all invited to race in our Chiller series.
It's good to get out of your comfort zone and test yourself against a new group of sailors and be a part of the wider sailing community. There's a strong Aero, Laser and D-Zero fleet and some top sailors to race against. It's also good for Thorney to make a strong showing. So, if you've not tried it, give it a go. You can also grab a beer and chips afterwards in the luxury of Emsworth sailing club, who are very welcoming.
The logistics are pretty straightforward. We can store our boats at ESC, use their changing rooms and bar. Those with stayed rigs can park on the hard at ESC, and the single-handers go in the dinghy park overlooking the foreshore. We make a nominal donation of £5, which goes to the RNLI.
