Families Day

Published 01:00 on 6 May 2018
The annual Families' Day will take place on Saturday 25th August with sailing and paddling events (adults and children) and a BBQ from 15:00 onwards. A Burger and a Sausage for £2.50 Come early and bring your lunch, the bar will open from 12:00. High tide at 1200 so you could watch the sailing in front of the club.
There will be a children's film in the small lounge and the table tennis and pool table in the south lounge.
Dinghy Sailing
Families' Day gives all dinghy sailors, whatever their age, the opportunity to get onto the water and race against other club members.
There will also be fun races for others which may just be in Thorney Channel or may be to the racing marks just beyond the 'goal posts'. Depends on the weather. It does not matter how good you are or what boat you use; it is all about getting on the water and having some fun. There will be a few small prizes as incentives to participate.
High water is at 1204 with a 4.4m tide so sailing in front of the club can start at 12:30 and continue until about 1400 .
Provisional timing as follows.
Race briefing for dinghies at 11:30
Race Start times between 12:30 and 13:00
Race finish time estimated at 14:00
Prize giving 15:30
Not into racing, then just come for a sail.
If you do not have a dinghy you can book one of the club boats.
Sailing not for you get your kayak or paddle board out
Volunteers Required to help run the event
These events do not run themselves so I am looking for volunteers to assist with manning the BBQ, Race Control and most importantly Safety Boat Cover.
If you volunteer for Safety Boat please register on DutyMan. this is the link:
Lets hope for good weather.
