British Sailing Team Visit / Talk
Published 12:27 on 6 Feb 2022
We have been offered the really excellent opportunity of Anna Carpenter a member of the British Sailing Team to come and give a talk to the club. The talk will be about her journey from the age of 4 when she started sailing to how she managed to develop her sailing skills to such a level she was selected for the BST and go on to train for the Olympics.
Anna sails a 49er FX in the British Sailing Team and is currently campaigning for the Paris 2024 Olympics, having completed two previous Olympic cycles in the 470 class.
The first event Anna competed in was the RYA North West Zone Championships in 2005 and the first event she won was the Women's Laser 4.7 National Championships in 2008. She achieved multiple international medals in the women's 470 class and was training partner to Rio 2016 gold medallists before switching recently to the 49er FX.
For those of you wanting to further inspire your children with sailing or those who just would like to know a bit more about sailing at the top level this is a talk not to miss.
The talk will be aimed for all ages with the aim of inspiring the younger members of the club and also providing advice and coaching for the parents and adult members. Anna will also be more than happy to take questions raised.
She has also amazingly offered to help support Nigel with the Lapwing session which is planned before the talk so if your young ones are booked onto the Lapwings sessions it is definitely one not to miss.
The lapwing session will run from 10:00 14:00 and then Anna's talk will follow from about 15:00 once everything is tidied up.
The club bar will be open from 13:00 until 18:00 for this event.
Please Book Here so we have an idea of how many people to expect.
