Thorney Adventure Sailing

Our Thorney Adventure Sailing subcommittee has been working hard to organise a series of shared sailing adventures for the club.

We have also decided to change the name from "Sail Away" to "Adventure Sailing",Whenmany of us first started sailing, just getting to Star or Stanbury felt like a real adventure. For others, the excitement begins when heading to East Head or venturing even further afield. While some club members are enthusiastic racers, many just want to have an adventure on the water perhaps enjoy a picnic or even buy an ice cream as part of the trip.
We thought it would be nice to create opportunities for members to share these adventures together.

Thank you to everyone who completed the recent survey. Your input has been incredibly helpful, and we've been overwhelmed by your enthusiasm for these events.

We have produced a handbook, which we plan to make available on the TISC website. It includes useful information on what you might need, as well as a selection of possible routes. I have included a copy of this for you to have a little look at if you so wish.

On the Day

• A lead sailor will decide the destination based on weather conditions and the skills of those taking part.

• We will have two safety boats supporting the group.

• Bookings will open one month before each event, and bookings will be made per boat.

We have also created a series of suggested routes, similar to those used by racers, to help guide the lead sailor when choosing where to go.

Staying Connected

We have set up a WhatsApp group for participants to share notes and updates.
We will also be setting up a page on the TISC website, where we will store information about adventure sailing and resources including the handbook.

We're really looking forward to sharing these adventures with you and hope to see you on the water.
