Safety boat refresher training Cancelled
This session is for club members who have completed the RYA Safety Boat course but who want some practice in (hopefully) more challenging conditions. Those who did the course in July '21 had lovely sunny days with almost no wind, which were great for learning but didn't test your boat handling skills.
We plan to cover:
- Man overboard
- Capsize recovery
- Inversion recovery (the Jaffa might struggle with this)
- Towing (dinghies and powerboats)
The session will use both club RIBs and one Jaffa, with one helm and one crew in each (which is how club duties are resourced). The session is therefore limited to 6 attendees. You will rotate between all three boats so get experience helming and crewing in all of them.
The session start at the clubhouse at 1000. Once we have the powerboats and dinghies prepared we'll change and launch. Please make sure you bring appropriate clothing for the conditions, and remembers safety boat crew are expected to be prepared to get wet. We'll run a series of sessions with a break between each to keep warm. Sunset is 16:03 so we'll be off the water for then. HW is 17:49, Sunset is 16:03.
The instructors for this session will be Jen Tankard and Nick Jones.
