As usual I would ask that you only apply for the course if you are able to attend at least 6 of the 8 evenings as we cover a lot of ground very quickly. The Theory sessions are in the clubhouse and start slightly later this year at 7pm so it is less of a rush to get there but Practice sessions are still 18:3o to give us as much time on the water as possible before it gets dark.
For those of you unfamiliar with this course .. It is where we attempt to make "sailors" into "racers" by teaching you the basic rules, some useful tactics and giving you some simple tips on how to make your boat go faster.
As such It is not a course for beginners, it is an improvers course .. You should be able to rig your boat, launch and be able to sail around a simple triangle course unaided. There will of course be full safety cover every time we go afloat . But we want to spend our time coaching rather than rescuing.
You will definitely learn a lot, you will absolutely get wet, you will probably go afloat when you would much rather be in the bar (we only cancel when its unsafe) .. and most of all you will meet and laugh and learn with a group of fellow club members all of a similar ability to you, that you will find yourself racing against for many years to follow
We use club boats - Pico's and Fusions - and there is no charge for this course.
The list will close on Sun 20th when I will send out emails to those of you that have got a place this year. Unfortunately, places are limited and we always give priority to people who have never done the course before .. But please do not let that stop you applying if you have attended before and would like to do the course again... As there are always a few dropouts and we try to accommodate everyone.
