Families' Day

The annual Families' Day will take place on Saturday 17th August with sailing and paddling events (adults and children).

Families' Day gives all dinghy sailors, whatever their age, the opportunity to get onto the water and race against other club members.

There will also be fun races for others which may just be in Thorney Channel or may be to the racing marks just beyond the 'goal posts'. Depending on the weather. It does not matter how good you are or what boat you use; it is all about getting on the water and having some fun. There will be a few small prizes as incentives to participate.

So if you have some relatives. or friends who have always wanted to see "what its like to sail" ... then this is the day to bring them down and let them have a go. Its very relaxed, friendly and everyone helps out to make it a really fun day for all.

There will also be a children's film in the small lounge and the table tennis and pool table in the south lounge.

The bar is open from 12 and the BBQ will be serving Burgers and Hotdogs all afternoon between 13:00 and 17:30.

For just £2.50 you can get both a Burger and a Hotdog (that's right for £2.50 you get both).

High water is at 13:45 so sailing in front of the club can start at 12:30 and continue until about 15:30.

Provisional timing as follows.

13:00

Race Briefing for dinghies

14:00 - 14:30

Race Start Times

15:30

Estimated Race finish time

17:00

Prize Giving

Not into racing, then just come for a sail.

If you do not have a dinghy you can book one of the club boats.

Sailing not for you ? - then why not get your kayak or paddle board out.

Hope to see you all there !

Volunteers Required to help run the event

These events do not run themselves so I am looking for volunteers to assist with manning the BBQ, Race Control and most importantly Safety Boat Cover.

If you would like to volunteer to help with the Race activities, please do so via Dutyman.

We are looking to distribute the workload for the shore based activities, including the BBQ, so if we have enough volunteers we are hoping they will only be assisting for up to 2 hours each so that the day can be enjoyed by all. Please contact Emma to volunteer social@tisc.org.uk.
