Raw Sewage in the Harbour

During periods of heavy rainfall the 3 waste treatments at Thornham (Thorney Channel) Bosham (Bosham Creek) Appuldram (Fishbourne Creek) can, and do, discharge untreated, broken up sewage into the harbour.

From the 13th November to the date of this notice (4th January) the following total discharges duration has been notified

Appuldram

Bosham

Volumes are not given, however Appuldram serves Chichester & Fishbourne (population approx 10,000), and will be considerable.

Thornham

Full immersion is not recommended and all cuts, open wounds and abrasions should be covered with a waterproof dressing. Normal hygiene measures are encouraged where physical exposure to water occurs. (eg wash hands before eating).
