Date(s) - 26/08/17
12:00 pm - 6:00 pm
The annual Families’ Day will take place on Saturday 26th August with dinghy events (adults and children) and a BBQ from 16:00 onwards. Burger and Sausage for £2. Come early and bring your lunch, the bar will open from 12:00. High tide at 15:24 so you could watch the sailing in front of the club.
There will be a children’s film in the small lounge and the table tennis and pool table in the south lounge.
Families’ Day gives all dinghy sailors, whatever their age, the opportunity to get onto the water and race against other club members.
There will be fun races and perhaps more serious races which may just be in Thorney Channel or perhaps to the racing marks just beyond the ‘goal posts’. Depends on the weather. One will be for competent helmsmen (for Juniors-Stage 3+) or for those in faster boats and the second will be for those who are less experienced (for Juniors up to Stage 2) or in a slower boat. It does not matter how good you are or what boat you use; it is all about getting on the water and having some fun. There will be a few small prizes as incentives to participate. Provisional timing as follows.
High water is at 15:24 with a 4.6m tide so sailing in front of the club can start at 13:30 and continue until about 17:00 to 17:30.
Race briefing for dinghies at 13:30
Race Start times about 14:00
Race finish time estimated at 16:00
Prize giving 16:30
Not into racing, then just come for a sail or enjoy the day
